Expansion of the R&D and production capacities for Biolink’s range of environmentally friendly, solvent-free adhesive tapes and films
Biolink Tape Solutions, a daughter company of the Planatol Group and innovative supplier of solvent-free adhesive tapes and films, moved into a new site at Waakirchen, Bad Tölz, Germany at the start of August. Biolink developed an eco-friendly UV-cured adhesive technology back in 1997 for producing adhesive tapes and films using pure or modified acrylate adhesives. These are available either from their standard range, or as a customer bespoke solution and are used in various fields, such as automotive, transport, construction, signboards & labels as well as electrical and electronics. Biolink’s industrial adhesive tapes are increasingly replacing mechanical connections and enable the cleaner, faster and more economical design of work processes.
Owing to continuous growth the company site in Geretsried, Germany could no longer fulfil the requirements of the company in terms of both R&D and production. Therefore, the decision was made in Spring 2010 to search for a larger company site. The development and production capacities have been considerably expanded in the new location with a total area of some 4,500 square metres.
The premises now offer a more spacious laboratory and experimental workshop. In addition, a well appointed multi-storey adhesive production area where customer-specific formulae can be produced, an area with almost "clean room" conditions where the three coating machines are located, an in-production quality control monitoring system as well as an enlarged product refinement area for die-cut parts and self-adhesive components. The material flow has also been optimised following the amalgamation of three former separate plants into one area.
“Our new site in Waakirchen provides us with excellent development opportunities to allow us to achieve our goals. Biolink offers forward-looking jobs and currently employs 51 staff members. Due to the growth in business, staffing levels have been increased by 8 new, on-site employees during the month of relocation alone”, says Peter Gämmerler, Managing Director of Biolink Gesellschaft für Verbindungstechnologien mbH.
Biolink adhesive tapes are not only ecologically valuable, but also efficient, durable and more resilient than adhesive tapes made in the conventional way due to the innovative UV-cured technology used. Customers contact Biolink especially when faced with complex or problematic adhesive joint requirements, such as high load capacity or the need for durability at extreme temperatures.
“Biolink is positioned for growth: the products are both environmentally friendly and high performance. In particular, the emerging trend of replacing mechanical connections with the intelligent application of adhesive bonding techniques enhances the growth of Biolink”, says Dr. Hannspeter Schubert, Managing Director of Planatol Holding GmbH and majority shareholder. “We are pleased that we moved into the new premises and are looking forward to positive growth.”
